Master Draft Design
For nearly two decades, one company has dominated the market on Pool CAD design. Over the years they have developed a reputation for horrible customer service, shady business practices, and a crumbling software infrastructure. Master Draft Design was founded to fix this issue and add a more sophisticated and honest option for pool designers in the United States. Knowing that the pool design market was just one use for this software, they decided to market themselves as a general CAD software company, but sell software tailored for each individual industry (pool, landscape, architecture, etc.), starting with pool design.
The Solution
For the parent brand I focused on a yellow-orange dark grey color combination, as it is commonly associated with the construction industry. The icon was created using an abstract “M” and “D”, with a minimalistic carpenter square making up one of the tips of the “M” to draw an association with measurement and drafting tools. I decided to keep the icon structure across the individual product branding, but swapped the palette and used colors that related to each industry instead of their parent brand orange-yellow.
