Substrata Patches

Our sales team had been sending out what we called “cold call kits” for some time, with a guided interactive experience for interested customers to test their soil. We wanted to add more of a personalized feel to these kits, to improve the likelihood the user would hold onto swag as a reminder of our product later in their decision making process. We needed to come up with swag that was light and interesting enough for the customer to think twice before throwing it away.

The Solution
We decided hats would fit our goals, but when we were pricing it out and gathering samples of companies that print on hats we were not impressed. For the quality we wanted, the price just wasn’t worth it. But, we realized, we embroidered patches are much cheaper, and if we purchased our own blank hats we could control the quality of swag. Designing these Perma-Zyme patches really stretched my design muscles. I had to think of something that would appeal to a large consumer base, while being simple enough to embroider. I ended up opting for a simple country road scene, utilizing the brands primary colors. In addition to designing these patches, I also assisted in fastening them to flex fit hats to send to potential customers in cold call kits.
